Caledonian Canal North
A miserable rainy day caused a late morning rise (we must have got used to having Edin onboard!), lunch at the cafe again and then a drive into Inverness to drop Beth’s car at the marina we were heading for. A simple plan… but we got distracted in a motorbike shop and were lucky to escape on foot! We caught the bus back to Fort Augustus with Neil who had driven up from Aberdeen to sail Loch Ness. Once back on Lia we had a beer (or two!) before heading out for a delicious Chinese, the best we've had, and a “few” more drinks!
Sunday brought and early rise and cold headwinds! We definitely needed a fry-up to help wake us up - nothing to do with the drinks from the night before! The headwinds stayed all day and none of us felt like tacking every ten minutes up the loch, so more motoring! Out of Loch Ness and into the Canal, past the Caley Marina and back towards the swing bridge. We managed to get some drone footage coming through the last of the Muirtown Flight locks before the rail bridge - ScotRail causing delays on the water too! An uneventful motor in the rain out through the Sea Lock and over to Inverness Marina where Lia would stay for a few weeks.
