The start of 2022 season
After a long Winter Lia left Peterhead Bay Marina just after lunch with a new crew, Edin and my Dad. A cold but sunny start to the season with a lovely sail past the Rattray Head Lighthouse and on to Whitehills. As we entered the narrow channel into Whitehills harbour around 1800 we gently ran aground in the soft sand, handy for cleaning the bottom of the keel! We graciously reversed back out and anchored outside until the tide came in. Bernie, the local Harbourmaster, called us on the VHF and said we should have plenty of tide around 2130 - right he was! We entered with no issue and tied up against the visitor pontoon, at low tide we just touch the bottom! Beth joined us and we made the Lia special of “Mayan Spaghetti” as the chipper was closed early - it went down very well with Dad!
The next day was lovely and sunny, we took advantage of the weather and we had a trip to Portsoy to sample their ice-cream and enjoy a walk around the local harbour - Edin really enjoyed his Easter egg full of ice cream and brownies, he would definitely recommend Portsoy Ice Cream! After the sugar rush and the walk in the sun we went back to Lia, and had a relaxing movie night.
